What it is
A prosthesis on natural teeth is supported by your own natural teeth, rather than implants, within our dental prosthetics area. It can be fixed (a crown or bridge, cemented in) or removable (the patient puts it in and takes it out).
When it’s recommended
It’s a good option when the teeth neighbouring the area to be replaced are healthy and can act as support, offering a faster and, in many cases, more affordable solution than a prosthesis on implants.

What the process looks like
- Intraoral scan We take a precise digital model of your mouth, with no impression putty.
- Design and manufacturing The lab designs the prosthesis with CAD software and manufactures it with a milling machine or 3D printing.
- Try-in and fitting We adjust the prosthesis in the mouth and cement it or hand it over, depending on whether it's fixed or removable.
Frequently asked questions
Is a prosthesis on natural teeth better than one on implants?
It depends on the case: on natural teeth it's usually faster and more affordable when those teeth are healthy, while on implants it avoids wearing them down, but requires prior surgery.
Do the supporting teeth need a lot of shaping?
Fixed prostheses require moderate shaping of the supporting teeth to make room for the crown; removable ones are barely altered.
How long does this type of prosthesis last?
A well cared-for fixed porcelain prosthesis can last more than 10-15 years; removable ones usually need adjusting or renewing every 5-7 years.
