Periodontal Microsurgery

Periodontal surgery carried out under magnification with a microscope or high-power loupes, with minimal incisions to treat the gum with greater precision and a faster recovery.

What it is

Periodontal microsurgery applies the principles of minimally invasive surgery to gum treatment: instead of conventional instruments, we use a microscope or high-power loupes, micro-instruments and very fine sutures.

Advantages over conventional surgery

The incisions are much smaller, which reduces inflammation, bleeding and post-operative discomfort, as well as improving the final aesthetic result. It’s the technique we use whenever the case allows within our periodontics area, especially for gum grafts.

When it's indicated
  • Gum recession that requires a precision graft
  • Cosmetic cases where the visual result of the gum is a priority
  • Patients looking for a faster, more comfortable post-operative recovery

What the process looks like

  1. Planning
Study of the case and design of the surgical approach under magnification.
  2. Microinvasive surgery
We work with micro-instruments and very fine sutures, with much smaller incisions than in conventional periodontal surgery.
  3. Guided healing
Recovery is milder and healing more aesthetic thanks to the precision of the technique.

Frequently asked questions

How is it different from conventional periodontal surgery?

It's carried out with a microscope or high-power loupes, micro-instruments and very fine sutures, allowing smaller incisions, less inflammation and a more aesthetic result.

Is it more expensive than conventional surgery?

The cost may be somewhat higher due to the time and technology involved, but the result and post-operative comfort usually make up for it. We give you the exact quote at your first visit.

What cases is it especially recommended for?

It's particularly valuable for gum grafts and other procedures where the final aesthetic result is a priority, such as with very visible smiles.
