What it is
The standard protocol for dental implants requires a bone integration period of about two months before placing the final tooth. Immediate loading shortens that wait by placing a fixed provisional prosthesis on the same day as the surgery.
What to expect
You leave the clinic with fixed teeth. The provisional prosthesis is replaced with the final one once the implant has finished integrating into the bone.
Care for the first few days
- Soft diet: during the first week, to avoid putting strain on the provisional teeth while the area heals.
- Gentle hygiene: careful brushing around the implants, reinforced with mouthwash if we recommend it, to keep the area clean without irritating it.
- No intense physical activity: avoid high-impact exercise for the first 48 hours to avoid encouraging inflammation.
- Scheduled check-ups: we monitor the implant’s integration until the final prosthesis is placed.
If there isn’t enough bone to give the implant primary stability, we first consider bone regeneration as part of the same initial study.

What the process looks like
- Initial assessment 3D X-ray and intraoral scan to measure available bone and plan the position and number of implants.
- Surgery and placement Removal of damaged teeth and placement of the implants in the same procedure.
- Fixed provisional teeth Placement of the fixed provisional prosthesis the same day, so you leave the clinic with teeth.
- Final prosthesis Once the implant has integrated, the provisional is replaced with the final prosthesis.
Frequently asked questions
Is every case suitable for immediate loading?
No. Enough bone is needed for the implant to be stable from day one. The prior study with a 3D X-ray determines whether it's viable; if bone is lacking, bone regeneration is considered first.

Can I go about my normal life on the day of surgery?
