What it is
Teeth whitening lightens the natural colour of the tooth using a peroxide-based gel, applied under professional supervision within our dental aesthetics area.
Methods
- In clinic (flash session): high-concentration gel activated with professional light, with visible results in around an hour.
- At home: custom trays and professional gel to do it at your own pace from home.
- Combined: the in-clinic session together with at-home reinforcement, the longest-lasting option.
Aftercare
For the first 2-3 days avoid food and drink with strong pigments (coffee, red wine, tomato sauce) and tobacco, since the enamel is more porous right after whitening and absorbs colour more easily.
- Teeth yellowed or darkened over time, or by coffee, wine or tobacco
- A healthy mouth, with no decay or inflamed gums, before starting whitening
- Wanting to lighten the shade of your teeth without more invasive treatments such as veneers
What the process looks like
- Prior check-up We check there's no decay or inflamed gums before whitening, to avoid unnecessary sensitivity.
- Choosing a method In clinic with professional light, at home with custom trays, or combining both for a longer-lasting result.
- Application and monitoring We apply the whitening gel following professional protocols and monitor sensitivity throughout the process.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the whitening effect last?
Between 1 and 2 years, depending on your coffee, wine or tobacco habits and subsequent maintenance with the at-home method.
Does whitening damage the enamel?
No, when carried out under professional supervision with the right concentrations. It can cause temporary sensitivity, which goes away within a few days.
Does it work on all types of stains?
It's effective for general darkening of the tooth. Some internal stains, or those caused by tetracycline, respond less well and may need veneers for an optimal result.
